Missing = Grieving: Grief-Informed Best Practices to Support Child Welfare-Involved Children & Families Webinar
September 18, 2026 | 12:00 – 1:30pm | Virtual via Zoom
While many child welfare professionals are trauma-informed, far fewer are grief-informed. Loss and grief are inherent to the child welfare system, yet the grief of children and families involved in care is often overlooked. Drawing on lived-experience research, Dr. Mitchell will define the core principles of grief-informed best practice and present practical strategies for supporting children and families in foster care who are grieving. This training is designed for dependency courts and system partners who work with dependency-involved families.

Safety Summits
The goal of this cross-system training is to help local dependency court systems enhance child safety practice by using a common framework for talking about child safety. When all court and system partners utilize a shared understanding and language to clearly and consistently articulate safety-related information, including the harms of removal, the court can engage parties in meaningful inquiries in ways that support improved outcomes for children.
Available for individual WA counties as a multi-disciplinary training.
Length: 4 hours;
Format: Virtual via Zoom
